HIGH SCHOOL
Class of '68 Reunion News, No. 3 August 25, 2001
The Reunion Committee met on Sunday August 19th, 2001 to review the
options for time and place for the reunion.
The most desirable choices for a venue, unfortunately, are all booked
for October of 2002. So, the committee decided to take a survey and
get your input prior to making a final decision. It's critical to
the decision making process that you be involved and express your opinion.
The goal is to get as big a turnout as possible.
Many venues have been looked at as possibilities with an eye to the
quality of the setting, the amenities included, the quality of the food
and beverage service, per person cost, and availability. Some sites
offer one thing, some not. But, basically, the per-person cost is
likely to be around $50.00 to $60.00 for the evening.
For your reference, previous survey results were as follows:
1st Choice - October - 45 in favor
2nd Choice - May - 32 in favor (NOTE - It has been determined that May
is not a viable possibility since this is a prime season for weddings and
other events and the prices go up and availability goes down.)
3rd Choice - March - 27 in favor
As you'll see from the survey table below, the options come down to
venue vs. date. We can still make October 2002 but not at a preferred
venue. Or, at one of the preferred sites, we could either move it
up to March 2002 or delay the event until March 2003 (our 35th graduation
anniversary). Many people have expressed a desire to hold the reunion
sooner rather than later.
Please fill out the survey and return it within 10 days to:

AHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP
Several of you have sent in membership contributions to join the Association - THANK YOU! Every little bit helps.
If you live in the Abington area and can spare some volunteer time,
the Association is in dire need of help. Even a couple hours a week
would be welcome. The Association maintains databases for all graduating
classes and it is a constant process of updating. This is especially
true when classes like ours start planning a reunion and make a push to
locate classmates. Some of the long-time volunteers are in their
late 70s and early 80s and are getting a bit weary of, in some cases, working
20 or 30 hours a week on Association business. Help out if you can.
The AHS Alumni Association web site is:

CLASS OF '68 WEB SITE
The Class of '68 Reunion web page is:
http://edmullen.net/index.php
On this site you can find statistics about the class database, links to
classmates' web pages, news about the reunion progress, contact information,
an In Memoriam page, and more.
If you have a story to tell about finding an old (using the term advisedly!)
friend and you want to share it, please do. Just email it to Ed Mullen
and we'll include it in the Reunion Web site.
Classmates.Com - You can register on this site for our high school and
class. About 100 or so classmates are registered and you must might
find there someone you'd like to talk with again. However, sending
mass email using the site is not very convenient. So, we don't do
that very regularly.
The best way to stay up to date is to make sure Ed Mullen has your email
address. Checking the Reunion Web site periodically is also a great
idea - the site is updated at least weekly.

Holiday Inn, Ft. Washington.
The previous reunion was held here. Described as "zero ambiance."
Not a bad venue but not as good as the other choices in terms of amenities
and quality of decor and food service. About $50 per person.
One thing going for this venue is the on-site hotel for out-of-town visitors.
But there are plenty of places to stay near any of these venues. |
